First things first, STAY CALM! We know how stressful it is to find out a storm might be headed your way, however, WE ARE HERE TO HELP! Once you have everything your family needs to stay safe during the storm (Flashlights, batteries, canned goods, water, etc); follow these steps below to ensure your beautiful and beloved pool survives the storm with you!
1 Put away and secure anything loose-
Furniture, pool toys, floaters, vacuum, lamps, outside decor, barbecue, etc (Do not throw in the pool-- metal can and will cause rust stains QUICKLY)
2 Leave pool uncovered-
Yes you read that right, do not put pool cover on
3 Drain ONLY a few inches-
IF NECESSARY. (Contact your pool guy if you have any doubts) this can end up causing more harm than good if not done correctly
4 Balance Water Chemistry-
Possibly extra chlorine or algaecide to prepare water for incoming new unbalanced water
5 Cut down greenery-
any long branches, extra limbs, that may be susceptible to flying/falling and possibly causing damage to pool structure (or even your house/windows!)
6 Ensure electrical features are shut off-
all pool lights, gas features, and other and no live wires are left on for possible fires!
7 Shut OFF all pool equipment-
Pump, timer, etc, ensure it runs before storm is scheduled to hit and resume set schedule after storm passes
